Microsoft Office Certification Online

Program Description - One- or Two-Semester Program
The Microsoft Office Certification Online course will provide students with the knowledge and skills to use Microsoft Office software for business and school applications. The software versions to be included in the program are: Windows 95/98/2000, Word XP, Excel XP, Access XP, PowerPoint XP, and FrontPage XP. Students will use PCs to learn the elements of Windows software and apply their skills to business settings. Upon satisfactory completion of the class, the students may take a Microsoft "proficiency" and "expert" certification test developed by the Microsoft Corporation. Certification tests must be taken at KC/TC. Students will work from home or home school, but will be required to attend KC/TC a minimum of two times during the semester. Students may opt to remain in the program an additional semester. All software is provided by KC/TC via the Internet.

  • Intel-based Pentium PC 16 MB or more RAM (32 MB recommended)
  • 28.8 or faster modem (56K recommended)
  • Connection to the Internet with an Internet Service Provider
  • Netscape 6.0 or higher or Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher
  • Windows 95, 98, NT, or 2000 operating system
  • KC/TC will provide Microsoft Office XP through the use of Citrix

Microsoft Office Certification provides students with skills to use while financing a college education. Students may be eligible for advanced placement or articulation credit from area colleges and universities such as Davenport University, Grand Rapids Community College, Ferris State University, and Northwood University.
