Course PLUS
As you know, students love the Tech Center
What is Course PLUS?

Course PLUS is an opportunity for students to earn academic credit while attending KCTC in eight (8) selected programs for just one year. We have crossed walked MMC standards in the academic areas of Math, Science and English Language Arts with the CTE standards in eight (8) programs at KCTC.

We have partnered with Michigan Virtual HS to work with us collaboratively to bridge the gaps so that a student may earn CTE credit and be eligible to earn an academic credit (4th Math, 3rd Science, or 4th English) after one year at KCTC.

What are the programs that are piloting a Course PLUS option?
Math: Wood Products, HVAC & Auto Tech
Science: Site Design Management (GIS) & Agri-Science
English: Hospitality, Graphic Design & Health Careers

How does a student enroll in Course PLUS at KCTC?
The student will work with his/her home school counselor to determine what course he/she should enroll in. The counselor will then designate on the KCTC on-line enrollment form that this student would like to take advantage of the Course PLUS option and select the program they would like to enroll in. KCTC will then take care of enrolling students to Michigan virtual HS.

Which session(s) will Course PLUS be offered?
Students will be able to take advantage of Course PLUS in any one of the three sessions, as long as the program targeted is being run during that session.

What is the time commitment for Course PLUS?
Students will be expected to utilize the time during the session they are at KCTC (approximately 30-40 minutes 2-3 times per week); and students need to know they will need approximately an additional hour outside of the normal school day to access the online course materials through Michigan Virtual HS in order to accomplish the course requirements.

What materials or resources will be needed to complete Course PLUS course requirements?
Students will need internet access, preferably high-speed access, log-in and passwords, and course materials. Course materials will be provided by KCTC through Michigan Virtual HS.
